The Firm

J. Johnson Architecture is a small New England design firm based in Andover, Massachusetts specializing in well crafted residential projects.    Our design approach is holistic, guiding the client from preliminary site selection through architectural design, and finally to assisting in interior selections.

The Process

The firm provides an extremely collaborative design environment, where clients are engaged with the design throughout the process.  We begin by listening to our clients requested requirements, budget, and design spirit to create an imaginative and thoughtful schematic design.  The design evolves through an ongoing review process with the client, culminating in a set of drawings necessary for bid and construction.  We rely on scale models to make certain that everyone fully understands the design intention.  The result, whether new construction or renovation, is a richly developed design that creates a home environment that is a natural extension of the client.

Julie Johnson

The firm’s founder and principal, Julie Johnson, is a licensed architect with over 14 years of experience in residential design and construction.  She gained experience working at prestigious design firms located in Seattle, Washington D.C., and Boston prior to founding her own practice six years ago.  She has a deep understanding of the needs of modern day families, and has an ability to translate that into the physical built space of our homes
